Once upon a time, long, long ago.... John Howarth was a member of Stoneground Band, a three-piece based in Manchester in the early eighties. Together with Dave Walmisley on guitar and mandolin, and Mike Green on flute, and all of them singing, they played a highly melodic mix of jazzy folk, mainly their own compositions Their first album, Sunstruck, has recently been made re-available on CD, as has their never completed second album, The Album That Nearly Was. Also now available is a CD of the previously unreleased sessions they recorded for Piccadilly Radio. These CDs are available by emailing Stoneground Band split in 1982, after five years together
